The fly plaid is the length of tartan fabric worn over the left shoulder, pinned at the chest, and allowed to hang down the back. It’s the piece that takes an outfit from dressed up to full Highland dress. If you’re wearing a Prince Charlie jacket to a formal event or wedding, the fly plaid completes it.
